<div>As many of you know, we (Sandra and Nora) are currently doing an internship in West Africa, in Benin. For almost three months now, we have been living with a host family in Dassa Zoumé, sharing daily life with them.
</div>
<div>This family welcomed a girl from their extended relatives four years ago: Sévérine, 15 years old. She is always cheerful, helpful, loves drawing and painting, and contributes wherever she can – whether in the household or at the tree nursery. She has truly become part of the family and feels at home here.
</div>
<div>But Sévérine’s life has not been easy. She is one of seven children in a family with very limited financial means. Her father does not care for his daughters and recently – against her will – took her away from our host family. He does not want to send her to school anymore, but instead give her to an aunt in the north. There, she would face forced marriage, child labor, and the loss of any chance at education.
</div>
<div>After the summer break, Sévérine should be starting high school or vocational training – a crucial step for her future. Without support, however, this will not be possible.
</div>
<div>Fortunately, together with our host family, we were able to bring her back – on the condition that we take responsibility for her school expenses.
</div>
<div>The costs for three more school years (including tutoring, school uniforms, materials, and food) amount to €3,963.92.
</div>
<div>Our host family would love to support her, but with four children of their own, their resources simply do not stretch that far.
</div>
<div>That’s why we have decided to raise funds together with you, to secure Sévérine’s path to education. Every euro helps, no matter how small – together we can prevent her from being forced into an unsafe and hopeless future, and instead allow her to learn, dream, and simply be a child.
</div>
<div>We want to be transparent: we are happy to answer your questions and can also share a detailed breakdown of the costs upon request – so you can be sure that every contribution goes directly to Sévérine’s future.

<div>Liebe Freunde, Verwandte und Bekannte,
</div>
<div>wie viele von euch wissen, machen wir (Sandra und Nora) derzeit ein Praktikum in Westafrika, in Benin. Seit fast drei Monaten leben wir hier in Dassa Zoumé bei einer Gastfamilie und teilen den Alltag mit ihnen.
</div>
<div>Diese Familie hat vor vier Jahren ein Mädchen aus dem Verwandtenkreis aufgenommen: Sévérine, 15 Jahre alt. Sie ist immer fröhlich, hilfsbereit, malt und zeichnet gerne und packt überall mit an – ob im Haushalt oder in der Baumschule. Sie ist fester Teil der Familie geworden und fühlt sich hier zuhause.

<div>Doch Sévérines Leben war bisher alles andere als leicht. Sie ist eines von sieben Kindern, in einer Familie, in der kaum Geld vorhanden ist. Ihr Vater kümmert sich nicht um die Töchter und hat sie kürzlich – gegen ihren Willen – aus unserer Gastfamilie abgeholt. Er will sie nicht mehr zur Schule schicken, sondern zu einer Tante im Norden geben. Dort drohen ihr Zwangsheirat, Kinderarbeit und der Verlust jeder Chance auf Bildung.
</div>
<div>Nach den Sommerferien stünde für Severine das Abitur oder eine Ausbildung an – ein entscheidender Schritt für ihre Zukunft. Ohne Unterstützung ist das jedoch unmöglich.
</div>
<div>Zum Glück konnten wir gemeinsam mit unserer Gastfamilie erreichen, dass Severine wieder zurückgekehrt ist – unter der Bedingung, dass wir die anfallenden Schulkosten übernehmen.
</div>
<div>Die Kosten für drei weitere Schuljahre (inklusive Nachhilfe, Schuluniform, Lernmaterialien und Verpflegung) belaufen sich auf insgesamt 3.963,92 €.
</div>
<div>Unsere Gastfamilie würde sie liebend gerne weiter unterstützen, doch mit vier eigenen Kindern reichen die Mittel dafür einfach nicht aus.
</div>
<div>Deshalb haben wir beschlossen, gemeinsam mit euch Geld zu sammeln, um Sévérine den Weg in die Schule zu sichern. Jeder Euro hilft, sei er noch so klein – zusammen können wir erreichen, dass sie nicht in eine unsichere und gefährliche Zukunft gedrängt wird, sondern lernen darf, träumen darf und einfach Kind sein kann.
