Empower Young Women with Advanced IT Training

We seek to provide young women with the knowledge and hands on experience to encourage and empower them in their choices for college educations and careers, and to build the capacity for Solotvyn school to support an ongoing program of training for teachers and students.

Our Project
will provide Information Technology training for fifteen female students and five female teachers at Solotvyn General  School in  Ukraine. The program will consist of two hour sessions once a week for ten weeks where students will:

·  Attend interactive sessions that will teach and demonstrate the possibilities for women in the IT field.
·  Promote a common culture of female solidarity in the school and community.
·  Prepare participants to become effective coders, designers, and leaders.
·  Demonstrate their newly acquired skills by working in small groups to create and present projects at the end of the training.

Further, we will establish an ongoing weekly computer club for students to be facilitated by the five teachers being trained, in addition to a weekly club for adults in the community.

How this Project will Benefit Young Women
It's difficult to find well-paying jobs in Ukraine's small towns and villages, particularly for women. Many Ukrainians are forced to leave their families behind for months or years at a time to earn money to send home.
