Educate to Empower Pakistan Fundraiser

Please take a couple minutes out of your day to read about Educating to Empower children in Pakistan. Dedicating an ounce of your time could possibly change an entire village’s fate.

Afsana,( افسانہ) a title known as a Persian derived, Urdu word that defines “short-story”, is a novel organization that serves to amplify women’s lost voices and their stories in relation to education in Pakistan to ultimately allow the world to recognize their experiences and the spectrum of the education system.

Our first partner is the Muhammadia Learning Academy that has provided exemplary efforts to serve the young generation that belong to the remote valley of Skardu, Pakistan. Below is a statement from the academy. It would mean the world to these children if you proceed to donate to help further their education, especially during the harsh weather conditions that have arrived. 100% of the profits received from this fundraiser will go directly to complete the establishment of the school.

“Muhammadia Learning Academy is a welfare school with a one-linear motto "Educate to Empower." We aim to enlighten souls through knowledge, wisdom, and awareness. We believe in education for all, and we aim to provide equal opportunities for girls. The school is located 7406 m above sea level in the valley of Roundu, Skardu. The primary source of income for most of the community is farming. Hence, the region is economically compromised.

We at Muhammadia Learning Academy believe that education is the only way to turn this community's fate. In March 2014, we established an evening coaching setup at our home, to guide the students and provide them with free tuition.

The masses responded very enthusiastically, and we have around 50+ children there.

Now we aim to set up a modern school with International teaching facilities to equip the students with enlightenment. The local community has been very supportive and has donated a piece of land for the school. Moreover, the initiative also aims to conduct awareness campaigns and seminars to educate the people on various subjects such as health, women empowerment, and the enrollment of their special needs children in our school, which is considered a taboo. The community is eager to equip the children and parents with various skills that would increase employment opportunities.

The learning academy will act as a dual education facility. It will be a school in the morning and a learning center in the evening for the community. By having a computer lab in our school, we can train older children with the necessary skills needed for their freelancer careers or small business to sponsor their further education in the future. The learning academy will act as a facility to elevate the whole village economically and educationally. It will push them forward in the direction of progressiveness, not only in education but as a member of civil society.

The locals of Talu Roundu are not privileged with the basic facility of safe and drinking water. Our facility has built a water reservoir that will filter the water and provide the whole community with drinking water safe for human consumption. The water reservoir will decrease waterborne diseases, which is common and troublesome in our community.”

We hope you are able to donate to Muhammadia Learning Academy and take part in their efforts for lifting the community of Rondu, Skardu.
