Gallbladder Removal Surgery

Donation protected
8/13 - 3am: Had to go the ER from severe abdominal pain. Turns out I have gallstones and would need gallbladder removal surgery.

I've been struggling with some digestive and stomach issues the past year or so. I think a lot of it had to do with me needing to personally take better care of myself but also some genetics as my mom has a lot of known stomach and digestive issues as well. I have GERD (an acid reflux disease) that has been ongoing for about 6 years. Although it’s been mostly mild for the last 6 years, my digestive issues have really flared up within the past 12 months. When they say your body shuts down after 30....they aren’t kidding! At least for me....

I would never in a million years think I'd do something like this. I have a difficult time trying to even borrow $10 from friends. I've been in many MANY financial ruts before....I always figure it out, but these problems have been beyond what I can currently handle on my own. I am prideful, but I’ve accepted the fact that I need help and any bit of help will honestly be more than appreciated. The $4,000 is just for the gallbladder removal surgery, not for any of the other issues.

I do have health insurance, but I have a high deductible ($1,500) that I have not met yet because I haven't really had any crazy medical bills. After the deductible it's a 20% copay for the surgery. Gallbladder removal surgery can cost anywhere from $7,000 - $15,000+ depending on complications, outpatient care, medications, and other variable fees. Also, the recovery time for the surgery is 1 week min and 4-6 weeks max if any complications occur. Since I am a contractor at my work, I do not get paid time off for the recovery days.

I'm not sure what's more difficult. Trying to deal with the pain of gallstones or asking people for money lol. I have always been good on my own. I have always figured out things on my own, no matter how difficult the situation is. Even if I lost my apartment, my car, my job, and everything I own, I still think I would manage to figure things out. But a medical issue that will only prolong to hurt my body is not something I can actually fix, so this is my last resort.

Thanks for hearing me out. Even if you can't help out, that's alright. I'll take some emotional encouragement. Anything will help, really.

Thank you,
