We are aiming to raise enough money for Mum and Dad to caravan around Australia next year and possibly visit Ireland.
Mum's dream is for her and Dad to travel around Australia in their cavaran and possibly to visit Ireland (although Ireland might be a long shot).
Their story starts in rural Australia near Roma where they worked all their lives (40 plus years) to build a family of 3 boys and a thriving farm. In 2010 large floods came through the area and wiped out their crops consecutively from 2010 to 2012.
Because of this they were hit with financial hardship and although they never defaulted on a loan the banks forced them to sell (a practice that is now illegal) for a fraction of what their farm was worth leaving them with nothing.
While preparing to leave the farm Dad then suffered a heart attack from the stress which needed a quadruple bypass to fix.
After all of this things seemed to be clearing up and Mum and Dad began life after the farm until Dad noticed mums memory beginning to fade. After seeing the doctor and getting tests they confirmed that Mum had brain cancer.
After 2 rounds of brain surgery and radium treatment Mum has started chemotherapy.
Dad has become her full time carer through it all and as such has not been able to work which is causing further financial strain.
We are saving what we can to help Mum and Dad's wish of the 2 of them caravanning around Australia visiting old friends and seeing the sites. Mum has always wanted to travel to Ireland as well but that might be out of reach.
If you feel like contributing it would be greatly appreciated as with everything they have been through we just want to see them happy again.
