In Memory of Edmund Odoi to Benefit His Family

Donation protected

On Wed, April 8th 2020, at just 40 years old, Edmund, also known as Nii Yemo, went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ after enduring a courageous fight with stage IV, metastatic gastric cancer, more commonly referred to as stomach cancer. He ultimately (although untimely) won that fight and we are most grateful that he is in no more pain.

With Edmund being the true encourager that he was, it was his request to not share his diagnosis simply because he did not want you to worry. For many of you who knew him well, you will surely understand this was Edmund’s loving and selfless nature to always put others before himself.  Doing so was his true love language.

Additionally, with the current social distancing restrictions, planning Edmund’s final resting details have been very limiting and challenging.  With that in mind, we hope to have a grand memorial at a much later time on his behalf where we can gather to properly honor his name and remember his amazing legacy.

And if there is any consolation in all of this, it is to know that in his final days he enjoyed the laughter and liveliness of his two beautiful children who he was able to spend time with every day since schools are closed due to the current pandemic. Being with his family brought Edmund great, great joy.

Heartfelt thanks for your much needed prayers and generous support during this difficult time.  May God bless you always.  We love you.

REMEMBERING EDMUND

Words by his sister Abigail Vanderpuye:

Edmund. He was an encourager, a lifter-upper, the kind of friend who would faithfully walk with you through your deepest, darkest times.

Edmund was a man of such godly character. Those who know him well will readily tell you, "he was the best of us."

Edmund lived his life in such a way that others aspired to emulate him, and I am yet to meet anyone quite like him.

Edmund was a gentle, kind man who saw the best in others before they could see it in themselves, and would prayer fully work to bring that out in them.

He loved so well--so very well. He took such selfless care of those around him, and we all have been truly blessed to have walked with him in his journey through life.
