In September of this year, Ed was told his kidneys were failing quickly and he would need to start dialysis immediately. He had to  have a port put in his abdomen and very quickly started to do home dialysis. He chose to do home dialysis because he is only 38 years old and had a 45 minute commute daily to attend his last year of law school.

After only a few weeks of doing this, he was still feeling very ill. He was hospitalized for 5 days and they told him that the dialysis was not working. His doctor said he would need to do hemodialysis to stay alive, which would require 2 more surgies and the removal of the port he was using at home. His doctor also said that he needed to immediately quit attending school and could not work. He now has to do hemodialysis at the hospital 3 days a week for about 5 hours each day.

He has two young sons, Eli is one and Ty is nine. His fiance, Larissa, is an RN and now providing their only income. This has all happened very quickly and the bills are already accumulating.

During this process, Ed was added to the national kidney transplant list. We are hoping for his sake and for his family that he gets a new kidney soon.

We all appreciate any help you can provide. This will be a lifelong process for them and they could use the support. Thank you and Happy Holidays.
