Edmond's angels, 3 years chemotherapy

November, 8, 2019

Some good news but my battle against cancer is not over!

This Monday, the cystoscopy confirmed that the two polyps that appeared and were removed were not malignant.
The High Grade G3 tumours that were removed did not reappear but their former location is still inflamed one month after the latest instillation.
Dr Vorobets advice is to stick to 4 weeks interval to avoid a possible recurrence of tumours, kind of "oblige them to keep the head down" and even restart this month after only 3 weeks if the bleeding has stopped.

Some good news but the fight is not over!

Please visit the "Updates" section for the latest news.

The cystocopy practiced June, 3rd, has shown that the cancer was not back, the instillations work as intended, next cystoscopy will be done after Summer. The regular monthly analysis is satisfying.  Due to the powerful immune system response and its side effects, the chemo has been resumed only July, 9th. As the photo posted in the latest update shows, I bought 3 instillations for 19200 UAH, being unable to afford to buy the needed 12 next instillations or even 6 doses like I did for the first series. Your generosity has gone a long way, with each quarterly cystoscopy and each monthly analysis showing the absence of recurring cancer we are moving towards a good prognosis @ 3 years and 5 years, with a possible total remission.

Diagnosed with an advanced case of bladder cancer in 2012, I underwent surgery and chemotherapy in 2013 in Versailles, France, the recurring cancer was treated again in 2014 in France.

I moved as a volunteer to Ukraine in 2015 after having been an international observer in 2014.

I decided to move to Ukraine for good and help with my skills that were needed in time of rebuilding the country's defense.

A checkup in Versailles, France, in October 2015 had not shown any recurrence.

December, 10th, 2018, a checkup with American Medical Center in Kyiv, with Dr Mark Gizov,  indicated the cancer was recurrent with two important  size tumours.

Dr Dmytro Vorobets, one of the brightest Ukrainian specialists from Lviv Medical University , removed four tumours one month later, they appeared to be High Grade G3, fortunately T1 (not metastasing) .

A second resection, on February 12th, demonstrated that the tumours had been eradicated and a series of 18 BCG instillations per year, 3 years in a row,  beginning 3 weeks after the surgery with a first series of 6, once in a week, had a foreseen survival rate close to 100% @ 5 years.

The cost of an instillation practiced by an urologist is estimated to 350 EUR  apiece, as of February 2019,  not including the analysis needed prior to every instillation and cystoscopies  every quarter.

Being a volunteer on my time and dime here, I do not receive any salary and I am not covered, being no more covered in European Union.

I could cover with friends help the expenses until today, Dr Dmytro Vorobets offered to treat me without charging me any fee above the usual hospital costs, .

I had contributed to funds similar to Gofundme along the years, I was suggested to start one.

Ideally, a paid activity would allow to cover the medical expenses generated by the needed follow up treatment.

Time is running, there is a  window of 3 to 6 weeks after surgery to begin chemotherapy after wich the cancer will be recurrent with a risk of not being a T1 grade,

I will post later a translation of the original reports in Ukrainian language.

My wish is to stay in Ukraine and being able to keep doing what I can to help.

Please read updates, do not hesitate to ask questions,  thank you for reposting.

I am facing a smear campaign due to my activism and engagement  since 2014, siding with Ukraine in front of the agressor.
People are ready to give testimonies to support me

[QUOTE] I would like to know why GoFundMe is giving Edmond Huet such a hard time when he is trying to get funds for life-saving chemotherapy. Although I have heard of your platform for some time now, I have personally never used GFM, either as s donor or as a user, but I was planning to use it to help Edmond. Based on your strange treatment of his campaign this past few days, and the on-and-off suspension of his account etc, I have decided to donate through another channel. You have done considerable harm to your brand name as a result of treating the comments of obvious trolls (cal pappas, for example) as some kind of authority that supersedes the documentary evidence that Edmond has provided more than once at this point, confirming his person and his purpose.

Here is my testimony on his behalf, as the founder of Eastern Economist, Ukraine's first English-language business and investment weekly (1994-2003) and a professional freelance translator and editor:
(1) I have known Edmond since 2015. He has never been involved in raising funds for the military here in Ukraine in all that time, as he himself was operating on a volunteer basis as a weapons specialist and focused on fighting corruption in the defense sector.
(2) Edmond recently underwent bladder surgery in Lviv for recurring cancer and needs to start taking chemotherapy within the next 2-3 weeks and for three years altogether if he hopes to live more than 3-4 more years.
(3) Edmond is currently staying in my guest house in Yaremche free of charge to help him preserve what little finances he has to combat his disease.
I ask you to stop aggravating the situation of a person who is already suffering enough physically and whose life is in danger if he does not start treatment soon.
Thank you!
