But...
A fire started on the porch from a stray ember and spread quickly through the house...
Within 15 minutes, the entire house, it's rooms and the contents of eight people's lives were incinerated.

We count ourselves VERY fortunate that everyone made it out SAFE and ALIVE thanks to the quick thinking of my brave nephews Sam and Fin.
They are remarkable boys, each in their own way, but their mutual love of their youngest brother, Jasper, is one of the things I love most about them.
It IS hard not to love Jasper.
Jesika and dad, Mike, are the kinds of people that make communities great. They lived at 1150 McClure Street for the past decade and raised their three sons in that house. Our mother moved in after our father passed away in 2015, and it has also been a second home to Kenzie, a music student, and Tom (a DJ, who curated his prized collection of rare crate finds.) Every summer, Jes, and Mike host a BBQ for the entire neighborhood in their backyard. And now, unfortunately, I am inviting you to a very different kind of event.
First, the house IS INSURED and we are already talking about rebuilding BUT this will take TWO YEARS and the insurance will only cover 6 MONTHS of the mortgage. Mike is employed with a landscape company and Jess has been restoring antique furniture for resale while raising the kids. Without the added aid of the tenants, Jesika and Mike will have to come up with the remainder themselves.
We are hoping to come up with the help for the remaining sixth months. That's 6 times $2895 which equals $18,895. So, we are asking for help with anything towards that goal.
Or, helping to spread the word!
