Eden's Place Residential Treatment Center

Donazione protetta

Eden's Place is a non-profit organization committed to providing quality care and therapeutic treatment for girls who have suffered extreme abuse, sex trafficking, and homelessness. We are eager to meet the needs of our community by offering a local treatment option for girls while raising awareness for the need for Residential Treatment facilities for girls in North Texas.  We are determined to be the catalyst that provides a solution to reduce the number of girls being relocated to facilities 4-6 hours away.

Recently we acquired a property in Dallas' southern sector, and on National Giving Day, we ran a campaign on social media. As a result of the campaign, a donor stepped forward. Upon our meeting, the donor expressed her love and compassion for the work that we were doing. She commended us for our efforts, but she strongly advised that we renovate the home to give it a more modernized feel. She asked if we would consider allowing her to take the lead on the home's renovations and allow her to do a gut remodel. She immediately contacted her contractor and discussed her plans for the project.  She informed the contractor that she wanted him to remove the drywall, insulation, ductwork, and the HVAC system in preparation for striping the house down to the studs.

We explained to the donor that this process was very concerning because, as an organization, we had already pooled our personal funds including our savings and, in some cases, our retirement, to fund the project. She assured us that she would completely fund the project and make the property better than it was before. We reluctantly agreed to proceed with the gut remodel.

Upon the completion of the demo, her contractor requested payment. The contractor's payment request went unmet. The donor stopped responding to his calls, as well as ours.  A few weeks later, we received a text message from the donor stating that she was backing away from the project.  She offered no financial support or explanation. She simply walked away, leaving us to pay her contractor for the demo that she initiated. We were not only left to foot the demo bill, but we were also left to contend with the destruction of our property. We were devastated! How could anyone do this? Not just to us, but to the girls that we seek to serve.

The delay of our opening will be negatively impactful on the girls in our community. Every day that our doors remain closed, there will be a young girl in our area that is uprooted and taken to a facility hundreds of miles away. The thought of this breaks our hearts! Our desire to meet the needs of these girls is paramount. We want to care for them and allow them the option of staying in their hometown, OUR hometown.

We ask for your support in helping us raise money to rebuild, not for our sake, but for her sake. We need you! SHE needs you! Will you join us?
