Please help us raise money to give a loving, incredible Mom, Wife and Nana every chance at life that she most deserves.
My mom is the most caring & giving person I know. She is the Rock of this family and we would all be lost without her. She is my best friend and although we have made many amazing memories together, I don't want to continue on this life journey making anymore memories without her in them. She would do anything for anyone and never asks why you need help, she just gives and expects nothing in return.
Well, now she needs YOUR help. On July 11th, just a few short weeks ago, she got the heart dropping call that her biopsy came back from a rush dermatology appointment and was quickly diagnosed with Stage 4 malignant Melanoma Cancer. It's a rare, life threatening and aggressive form and we honestly don't know the intensity of it is at this point.
Since the day she was diagnosed, her primary doctor and dermatologist have been calling around everywhere to get her in for surgery. She unfortunately has "Covered California" health care insurance under the Obamacare plan and has an HMO plan. Many of the doctors listed under her Network on this plan were called (16 total) and 1/2 of them said that they never contracted with Covered California and the others are not in her network or are cash only. Only 1 doctor was able to take her insurance, but because of the difficulty and danger involved in such a surgery that she needs, he declined. We have found hospitals and doctors that have said that they would do it, but when it was sent back to the Insurance company, they quickly denied it.
We can not get any definite answers and her paperwork has been passed around everywhere with no one able to help. After waiting in the Loma Linda ER this past Saturday for over 12 hours, they sent her to a specialist which said that he can't take her insurance but can treat her like a cash patient. She needs over $5,500 just for a deposit for the surgery and then will be billed somewhere between $25,000-$35,000 for the total surgery.
Everyone who knows my parents know that they have owned their own Tile Company for over 30 yrs. You may also know that with any kind of Construction or Business ownership that the money is very iffy. At this point, they are living day to day and doing their best, but have nothing saved up and nowhere to get the funds they need. The Surgery alone is expensive, but they will also need help for her recovery as well as living expenses as my Dad will not be able to work during this time.
I am asking from the bottom of my heart to please help and donate to this fund. It would mean the world to us! There are too many people that need her, and everyday we wait for the surgery is another day that this aweful cancer can spread into other parts of her body.
My boys need their Nana. She is wise, caring and fun and they LOVE sleepovers at Nana's house. She is their "go-to" person and camping buddy when mommy isn't able to go.
Prayers are an amazing kind of support and we would love all prayers and positive thoughts as well.
