Stella’s Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hello friends, thank you for taking the time to look at this page. As some of you may know, we welcomed puppy Stella into our lives a little over a year and a half ago. She was so small and timid, she immediately captured our hearts. At the beginning of August, we noticed that she was having a hard time breathing and was coughing quite a bit. We took her to our vet thinking that she may just have something stuck in her throat. Through x-rays, we found out that she had a lot of fluid buildup in the area around her lungs. We immediately took her to the emergency vet and found out she had a pleural effusion and needed to have her lung cavity tapped and drained. At this point we didn’t know what was causing the fluid buildup, but were fortunate enough to get an internal medicine appointment within a week. As it turns out, our little Stella has a twisted lung lobe requiring surgery to remove the lobe. This procedure has been shown to be very successful, and all indications point to her living a very happy and healthy, long life. During the pandemic, many people adopted dogs, which is wonderful, but now veterinarians and surgeons are very overwhelmed. Stella‘s first available appointment for surgery is on September 14, but she has to have the fluid drained from her lung cavity nearly weekly or she may suffocate. All of this is very expensive and Shay and I are asking for your help. We are asking for your support for Stella‘s care and surgery, estimates are in the tens of thousands. This is very hard for us to ask for help but we can’t imagine not giving her the care she needs, she is one special little puppy! Anything donated beyond our medical bills will be donated to SHR, the fantastic rescue who found her. Thank you again for reading this page.
