This rambunctious, smart (more on that later), hilarious and sunny 6 year old babe escaped the yard and ran into the busy road without looking (not smart) and was struck immediately by a car, sending him sailing nearly 100 feet- his little boots blew off and he landed in a heap on the road in front of his 10 year old brother, Errol.
Thanks to the clear-thinking driver, and the other bystanders there, our sunny baby was en route in an ambulance within moments, which later led to a full CT and a medivac jet flight to BC Children's Hospital with his mom. His Dad flew down on the next available flight.
Eddie's big, brilliant brain has been badly rattled, and has suffered some damage, but we just don't know how much- only time will tell. He's in a coma and will take a long time to wake up.
He has 3 siblings at home- 2 with Grandma and 1 with Opa. His parents are utterly shattered and are bedside with our little elf and won't be leaving anytime soon.
Both Mom and Dad have entire households to run at home in Whitehorse, and no one is going back to work anytime soon- those kids gotta eat and the grandparents could use support. We have all experienced the insulation of a wonderful family and community- and if you can, please support our family to stay bedside with Eddie for as long as it takes for him to get the care he needs.
