Eddie Hernandez Health Fund

On March 28th my life changed in a way that I never thought was possible. My husband Eddie went into sudden cardiac arrest in our home. I truly believe God sent me into our bedroom where he had been napping at just the right moment. I was able to perform CPR and save his life until paramedics arrived on the scene. He was rushed to an ER close to our home and was admitted to the ICU once he was stabilized.

The next day I had him transferred to a bigger hospital in the med center where we learned he had sustained anoxic brain injury. An MRI showed that the occipital and temporal lobe had been damaged from the lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain. The doctors also suspect that he has Brugada Syndrome which is rare genetic heart condition that results in abnormal electrical activity within the heart. The abnormal heart rhythm is most likely to occur when a person is resting or it could also be set off by a fever.

He is going to need extensive therapy over the next few months. We won’t know the extent of how much he will need though until he is conscious. He is currently stable in the ICU as far as vitals are concerned. At this time the doctors have told us we just need to give him time and have patience as he slowly starts to regain consciousness.

I am currently a stay at home mom to our 1 year old daughter Emilia. I am trying to find a balance of being at home with her,creating a consistent home life and being at the hospital with Eddie to advocate and fight for him. Any amount is greatly appreciated to help us pay Eddies medical expenses.
