Finn's Top Surgery Fund
My name is Finnley and I'm a 20 year old man who lives in Western Australia. I was assigned female at birth.
I've struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember due to gender dysphoria. That was until I finally began taking testosterone in March 2016. It took a while of bouncing back and forth between doctors and psychologists, but eventually I got there, and it saved my life.
My next step is top surgery. This is a reconstruction of the chest to remove breasts and sculpt into a natural male chest. Currently, I bind my chest to flatten it, which is uncomfortable, hot, and at times even painful. It can even be dangerous if done improperly. Having this surgery means I can live the rest of my life free from a great deal of physical and mental pain.
My issue now is trying to find enough money to handle the costs of:
- The surgery itself
- Consultations with my doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, endocrinologist, and surgeons
- After care
- Possible revisions
- Flights and accomodation (if having the procedure in another state)
- Something to live on while healing (as I do casual work and don't receive paid sick leave)
I have been saving as much as possible from work and selling art, but the slow progress and the sheer amount needed has been a huge burden on me.
It's taken me a long while to realise that it's okay to ask for help. So here I am, asking you to toss a few dollars my way if you can afford it, and if you can't, to spread the word.
Every little bit helps, and it takes a massive weight off my chest (haha).
If more than I require is raised, any excess will be donated to charities supporting transgender rights.
Much love and appreciation,
Finn
