Ecuador Earthquake - Manabi

Donation protected
On Saturday, April 16 Ecuador suffered an intense 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the northwestern part of the country.  The quake was felt throughout much of the country and left a wake of death and destruction.  With the deathtoll at nearly 500 and more than 100 people left unaccounted for, as well as thousands left injured. Estimates are that more than 23,000 are homeless and many are without work.

My husband, Fernando Castro, is from Jipijapa, Manabi.  The province of Manabi was the hardest hit with the most fatalities.  His family survived without injury, though some homes were damaged and many people are now without work.

Fernando will be traveling to Ecuador in late May to support relief efforts and is collecting monetary donations to be able to buy and help distribute water, food, and basic necessities who are without.  Many stores are closed and the prices of basic goods have skyrocketed.

All donations will go towards relief efforts and not to the cost of Fernando's trip.

Fernando will update everyone on where the money is going and will add photos so everyone can see who is benefitting.
