Hi, my name is Paisley Elliott.

I am nine years old and I live in Grapevine, TX. I am a tiny but mighty humanitarian and I'm determined to change the world. In preschool, I learned that a refugee is a person or a family forced to flee their home due to danger. Given a choice to flee or to die; what would you do?

Did you know that out of all the countries in Africa, Uganda takes in the most refugees, and 3rd most in the entire world? And more than 60% are kids? 900,000 refugee children now call Uganda home. And I want to help them.

I decided to help by creating a mobile classroom called the SHINE Box, so kids could learn wherever they are! I made a pledge at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland at the inaugural Global Refugee Forum in 2019 to launch 5 SHINE Boxes. In 2021, I was able to bring 10 SHINE Boxes to the children at the Rwamanja Refugee Settlement in Uganda with the help of the Refugee Innovation Center run by my really good friend Olivier Nkunzurwanda.

Unfortunately, in the last few months, food rations went from $10 per family to just $3/month! And the cost to go to primary school has tripled to nearly $70/term making it even harder for my friends to go to school. So I'm asking for your help!

The Refugee Innovation Center and Paisley's Pals have started construction on Peacemaker Preschool, a Montessori-inspired primary school, but we need your help to raise enough money for learning materials, teacher salaries, and most importantly a food program that will make sure every child gets one full meal per day. It's hard to learn when you're hungry.
