Want to join BEJI in making a difference? Social and economic injustice is a crisis within our country and our City.
To be included in justice we must build unity by bringing diverse groups together to be heard and take collective action. The Black Economic Justice Institute (BEJI) believes that together there is the will and ability to create a just society by speaking truth to power.
If you are Black in Boston, you are 4x’s more likely to live in poverty and 2.2 times more likely to be unemployed (before COVID-19) than whites. Black’s in Boston hold only 10% of Management and Finance positions and only 9% of Science and Engineering positions, the highest paying jobs. People of Color in Boston work only 34% of construction job hours and are more likely to hold the lowest paying positions on a crew.
This is why the Black Economic Justice Institute fights.... economic injustice.
Please unite with us beyond marching in the streets. Please invest generously in your community by uplifting those who have been left out, put down, denied, beaten, and killed. While our people await the lifting of the ban on evictions, we know what’s coming, we are unemployed, underemployed and displaced disproportionately and need help in securing better jobs for better lives and most immediately paying our rent.
Mayor Marty Walsh has declared racism a public health crisis and has said: “We’re not going to let this moment or this movement pass us by, I pledged to make Boston a national in this work and we are following through on our pledge.”
You can join the mayor and others by investing in your Black communities. We are hopeful that these moments of protest will not fade. Your investment will help build a stronger, more resilient community for all people. When one person suffers injustice, we all suffer injustice.

We envision the existence of generational wealth by creating job standards, and building schools to teach our culture, history, and civic engagement as part of the curriculum. We want to see lifestyles of home ownership and safe neighborhoods. We want economic justice for our people.
