Eco Maasai Farm & Accommodation in Tanzania

In the project area a huge part of the local Maasai population is unemployed due to climate change and missing economic conditions. With building up the Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation we want to do something about the current situation: Create perspectives, fight poverty and raise environmental awareness.
With building up the Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation we want to create employment opportunities for locals. This should include jobs such as a farm manager, a gardener, a chef, a housekeeper and a security man. As tourism is the main sector of Tanzania's economy we want the local population to benefit of it + we want to create a closeness and understanding between tourists and locals for a harmonious cooperation.
As another focus of this project is on nature conservation this shall all be done in an environmentally-friendly way in the form of an eco-farm.
The Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation shall be build on a mainly unused farm in Northern Tanzania and consist of the following:
- 4 Maasai huts which shall be rented out to tourists
- Common area as a meeting point for locals and tourists
- Sanitary installations such as an outdoor shower and a pit toilet
- Outdoor kitchen and fire place
- Planted area with organic cultivation
- Fencing of the farm for security reasons
This Eco tourism project shall have 3 main focusses which are
1. Conservation (long-term solutions for conserving and enhancing biocultural diversity)
2. Communities (increasing local capacity building and employment opportunities and thus enpowering the local community and fight poverty)
3. Awareness (creating greater understanding and appreciation for nature, local society and culture)
As the local population is not able to afford creating such structures, we want to help them building it up and creating an environment of which they can benefit long-term and in a sustainable way.

Im Projektgebiet ist ein großer Teil der lokalen Maasai-Bevölkerung aufgrund des Klimawandels und fehlender wirtschaftlicher Bedingungen arbeitslos. Mit dem Aufbau der Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation wollen wir etwas gegen die aktuelle Situation unternehmen: Perspektiven schaffen, Armut bekämpfen und das Umweltbewusstsein stärken.
Mit dem Aufbau der Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation wollen wir Arbeitsmöglichkeiten für Einheimische schaffen. Dazu sollten Tätigkeiten wie Farm Manager*in, Gärtner*in, Koch*Köchin, Haushälter*in und ein Sicherheitsmann*frau gehören. Da der Tourismus der wichtigste Sektor der tansanischen Wirtschaft ist, wollen wir, dass die lokale Bevölkerung davon profitiert + wir wollen Nähe und gegenseitiges Verständnis zwischen Touristen und Einheimischen für eine harmonische Zusammenarbeit schaffen.
Da ein weiterer Schwerpunkt dieses Projekts auf dem Naturschutz liegt, soll dies alles umweltfreundlich in Form einer Ökofarm geschehen.
Die Eco Maasai Farm and Accommodation soll auf einer weitgehend ungenutzten Farm im Norden Tansanias errichtet werden und folgendes enthalten:
- 4 Maasai-Hütten, die an Touristen vermietet werden sollen
- Gemeinschaftsbereich als Treffpunkt für Einheimische und Touristen
- Sanitäranlagen wie eine Außendusche und ein Plumpsklo
- Außenküche und Feuerstelle
- Bepflanzte Fläche mit biologischem Anbau
- Umzäunung der Farm aus Sicherheitsgründen
Dieses Ökotourismusprojekt soll 3 Hauptschwerpunkte haben, nämlich
1. Naturschutz (langfristige Lösungen zur Erhaltung und Verbesserung der biokulturellen Vielfalt)
2. Gemeinschaften (Stärkung des lokalen Kapazitätsaufbaus und der Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten und damit Stärkung der lokalen Gemeinschaft und Bekämpfung von Armut)
3. Bewusstsein (Schaffung von mehr Verständnis und Wertschätzung für Natur, lokale Gesellschaft und Kultur)
Da sich die lokale Bevölkerung die Errichtung solcher Strukturen nicht leisten kann, wollen wir ihnen helfen, diese aufzubauen und ein Umfeld schaffen, von dem sie langfristig und nachhaltig profitieren können.
