ECO Farm Birds & Bees Project

Help ECO become more sustainable by adding birds and bees to our farm!

Earth Citizens Organization (ECO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is always committed to spreading health and sustainable solutions to the world. During these times of the world pandemic, ECO is working to support the world on a global scale by offering online classes to help viewers to stay healthy while sheltering at home. In our home town of Cottonwood, located in the Verde Valley of Arizona, we are developing the ECO Farm to support the local community with fresh, sustainably grown foods and provide a training grounds for the next generation of environmental leaders and regenerative farmers.

The Birds and Bees Project goal is to raise $5,000 to bring in chickens and bees to their new home at ECO Farm and make the farm more sustainable. The chickens will provide eggs and the bees can provide honey to share with the locals of the Verde Valley. In addition to being an essential part of sustainable farming, the chickens and bees will also provide excellent educational opportunities for the community to learn locally and even globally with online classes and clubs. Please help support this endeavor by donating to reach our fundraising goal.

Offering Healthy Local Choices

Currently, when you walk into the super markets, along with the toilet paper shortages, we have seen egg shortages as well. ECO Farm has invited 88 chickens to be a part of the farm to provide the local community with this great source of protein. We will be including eggs in our CSA program, when we participate in local farmers markets, as well as at our newly opened farmstand. In the future, we hope to be a local source of eggs to our neighboring markets and grocery stores.

Keeping You Healthy During Allergy Season

With Spring in the air, ECO Farm hopes to lessen the effects of common allergies in a natural way, particularly with local honey. According to medical experts, untreated allergies that last for long periods could weaken the immune system and, in turn, make the body more vulnerable to germs and even viruses. To minimize these allergies and to bring some sweetness to the world during these delicate times, ECO Farm would like to bring in two colonies of bees to produce honey which can aid individuals dealing with allergic symptoms.

Giving the Birds and Bees a Home and Creating a More Sustainable Farm

ECO Farm is bringing in our winged friends to be part of this endeavor, and we need your help. By bringing in chickens and colonies of bees to the farm, our species diversity will be expanded and our yields will increase using the miracle of nature.

A symbiotic relationship between farms and chickens exists when chickens are pastured, provided secure housing, fed a superior diet, and given fresh water. In turn, the chickens provide fertilizer in the form of poop, eggs, and maybe most importantly for the homestead: companionship and entertainment. Our girls will provide fertilizer for the farm, education for the interns, local schools and families. These chickens will be fed an organic, non-GMO diet and have access to bugs, worms, and some food waste- things they love like tomatoes and melons.

Another symbiotic relationship can be formed with bees when the needs of the bees takes priority over the needs of the humans who care for them. Bee colonies that are healthy, who have multiple sources of nectar and pollen, and who’s surpluses are conservatively harvested can contribute to the overall health and productivity of the farm. These hives will serve as a learning center for interns who are interested in beekeeping and within a few years, we would like to be able to share our bees with other beginning beekeepers in the local area. We will protect them by maintaining non-gmo, organic crops, cover crops, blooming perennials such as fruit trees and dandelions, and blooming annuals such as sunflower and marigold.

Support the Birds and Bees Fund and Help All humanity Become More Sustainable

The birds and bees project will open up more opportunities for education on the farm by teaching people how to become better stewards of the Earth. But we need your help. ECO will provide the space, much of the sustenance for the bee hives and chicken coops and the personal knowledge and care.

Here is what we need funds for:

- The chickens and bees, as well as safe delivery to their new home
- Solar powered electric fencing to protect the chickens from harm
- The initial cost of feed to help them grow into healthy, happy chickens
- Bee hive boxes to build into homes
- Protective clothing for the bees’ personal caregivers

Our gofundme goal to collect $5,000 will not cover all of the costs, but by working together with all of you as a community, we can contribute to the protecting and supporting our Earth together.

We appreciate all of you immensely and humbly thank you for your assistance.
