Hello, my name is Marissa, and I come asking for help with raising funds to help my cat Echo.

You see, I have had Echo since I was about 13. She and her brother were given to us by our neighbour. Echo and I have had such a close connection ever since she was a kitten. She has been my best friend all throughout middle and high school into college, and we have been practically inseparable since I first met this wonderful, chatty, loving kitty.

Her brother passed away unexpectedly when he was very young. Echo, now almost eight, means the world to me, but sadly has just been diagnosed with Feline Injection Site Sarcoma, or FISS.

This cancer is rare, it has a less than one percent (0.01%) chance of occurring in cats who have received any kind of injections or vaccines in the last ten years. However, if the surgeon can remove all of the tumour, it only has a fourteen percent reoccurrence rate. This means that Echo has a good chance of beating this cancer if she can get surgery to remove the tumour fully. Since this will be a complex, invasive surgery for Echo, we need to go to a specialty animal hospital for her treatment. However, it is incredibly costly, the CT scan to see the extent of the tumour will be 2400$CAD. With the surgery being estimated around 6000$CAD.

This is where I am asking for your help. I am a full-time student in college, and although I do work part-time, between car insurance, gas, and tuition costs, I do not have enough savings to afford Echo's treatment without help. The funds raised here will be used towards Echo's scans, surgery, and medication. Anything at all, whether its 2$, 5$ or 20$, will mean the world to me and Echo, especially with her prognosis being so good if she can receive her life saving surgery.

As well, I hope to spread awareness about FISS, with a message to all cat lovers to keep an eye out for any bumps or lumps on your fluffy family members! I am so, so incredibly grateful that I was able to spot Echo's tumour when she had yet to deteriorate beyond the point of no return.
