Courtney, beautiful 19 year old young lady. Full of life, happiness, energy and always brings the room to a smile. You would never know of her aches and pains for she smiles right through them. Rarely would complained and always goes forward with positivity.
Courtney has battled scoliosis since 2006. She was seen every 3 months, then to six months, wore a brace, though kept curving. After a few years the curve slowed down and then it became a yearly checkup. Our last checkup was this year, July 2014. The X-rays showed more curve then before. A year ago, September 2013 Courtney also went in for a cardiac ablation to repair some abnormalities of her heart her freshman year of college year causing her to withdraw from college courses.
Courtney will be having surgery November 10th, 2014. She will have two permanent rods, 38 screws and bolts and donor bone put in her back. She will be in the hospital for up to two weeks, pending her recovery. 6 months before she can actively do ANYTHING! Up to a year full recovery.
After this surgery Courtney hopes to return to her successful quality of life, with limitations. She hopes to return to college to a fresh start to get “back” on track, and also return to work with limited restrictions.
We hope to raise enough funds to cover her life's expenses while in recovery to help with her rent, medical, and life's bills.
The blessed ones are given extra challenges (medically) that others can't handle and there are so many angels like Courtney out there that have strong enough souls and spirits to make it through.
