BSCA Assists Hurricane Dorian Victims in Bahamas

Tax deductible
It has been a few days since the destructive winds and rains of Hurricane Dorian made landfall in Abaco and Grand Bahama, Bahamas.  The gale force winds ripped the roofs off homes, uprooted trees and brought down power lines in those islands while in the wake of the massive waves and storm surge many communities were decimated.

The Bahamas Sportfishing Conservation Association is an incorporated nonprofit organization in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas governed by a Board of Directors.  BSCA is also incorporated in the state of Texas of the United States of America as a nonprofit organization and receives exemption from Federal Income Tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Any contributions made to the Bahamas Sportfishing and Conservation Corporation (BSCC) are deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN # 20-0529674).

BSCA, along with our International NGOs Partners, has agreed to be fully involved in the restoration efforts of Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands after the devastation of Hurricane Dorian.  Members of our organization have also been displaced.  Funds donated will be used specifically in those communities to assist displaced persons and to start the rebuilding process.

Our Mission:  To make a positive difference, a sustainable change and to bring families, communities and people back to normalcy and out of the grip of devastation.

Our Motto: RESCUE, RELIEVE, REBUILD

Here are the three (3) ways that donations can help:

RESUE: First plan of action is to lend assistance to the communities affected by providing immediate temporary shelters to 100 persons and/or 50 families displaced by the storm.  The need for tools (workers, chainsaws, machetes, pickaxes, ladders etc.), garbage disposals, solar generators, equipment to remove debris while in recovery mode.

RELIEVE: Our next plan of action is to provide relief to those who have been affected by tragedy.  This means everyone has clean water, fresh clothing, hygiene items, warm meals and everything necessary for them to feel safe and comfortable.

REBUILD: Our third plan of action which is long term, is to assist both local commercial and sports fishing persons and others in need in rebuilding their lives and to get back to a state of normalcy where they can return to being able to sustainably support themselves and families.

We are governed by a Board of Directors where decisions are made jointly.  We file our taxes annually with the IRS.  Monthly reports will be submitted to the board to ensure transparency of all funds donated and spent.
