UPDATED: This fund is for my nephew, Robert Burris. Robert is the only child of Shannon and Leonard Burris. Robert and his wife, Jenny, were married just a few months ago. Robert became ill while vacationing with his new bride in Vegas, almost 800 miles from home. His parents live in Georgia, over 2000 miles one way from the hospital in Vegas, where he was placed on life support. His illness has been a mystery and doctors have scrambled to find lifesaving answers. Robert only had a 10% survival rate before being put on multiple life support options including ECMO, ventilator, dialysis and sedation.
Robert has responded well and now has an 80% survival rate. He will remain in intesive treatment programs for the next month or more in the Vegas hospital. Once he his stable he can be moved to Colorado, close to his home for further medical support. But he has a long, scary road ahead of him. He needs everyone to pull together and support each other for this long road to recovery. Normally, Robert is a happy go lucky guy who is always making other people laugh or smile with some antic or joke. We want to see him with that genuine smile again!
Thank you in advance for any and all donations to help with his medical expenses, his ongoing responsibilities at home, his wife's needs, as well as his parents expenses to be with him during this critical time. They need hotel expenses, food, phone and car expenses as well as long term needs such as their own medications, etc while they are away from home. Shannon, Robert's mother, is having to miss work as an assistant manager at a fast food chain. Leonard, Robert's father, suffers from his own medical issues including Lupus, psoriatic arthritis and other painful auto immune diseases and is unable to work to support the household. They live a quiet, modest lifestyle and have no means to handle any of these expenses to their budget that is already tight.
