Fundraising for Kashmir

Hello Friends,

"How does it feel when you witness a breeze of fresh air, in scorching summer heat a three-way embrace by cool mountains, snow laden winters, spring filled with colorful tulips, eye popping sites where one wants to stand still and never look back- Kashmir a picturesque valley since centuries was swept in 5 days!

It has never happened in Kashmir’s living memory, 5 days of torrential rains devastated Kashmir to such an extent that now when one looks around all you see is eyes full of tears, never settling grief, people in despair, hunger- battling for each breath of life.

A mighty flood hit the valley few days back that washed away all that it possessed. Such was the might of rains that it inundated 2600 villages across the valley; death toll has reached more than 200 roughly. River Jhelum, which was once kind to its land snatched life out of people, livestock & devastated public and personal property beyond estimation.

‘We are devastated’ is the voice of every single native of Kashmir. What wretches one’s heart when you read, ‘can I bury him here?’ he asks, holding out a bag with son’s body, a story carried by English daily newspaper Indian express. Likewise, there are hundreds of tales to tell, some have died out in the depths of water.

None the less, analysts say that the aftermath seems more horrible- Much feared is spread of innumerable diseases. The devastation is of such an extent that even the State administration needs support. So volunteers, charity organizations have gathered to save this land and bring it back to life."{ Aliya Iqbal}

I, Saima Nabi, born and brought up in Kashmir today feel so helpless to see my land in such despair. I need to help my people desperately, but alas! Would I be able to do it alone? comes to my mind.

This page hence has been setup to raise support for a team of Local Volunteers, Doctors and Paramedics led by Dr. Saleem Naik, Senior Consultant at BLK Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, India.We are planning to rehabilitate a village that has been badly affected and has an underprivileged  population.We will be providing medical care, supplies including but not limited to medicine, water purifiers, food, blankets , disinfectants. Whatever money will be raised, I along with some volunteers among which Saleem Naik, Muzaffar Naik, Shagufta Yasmeen and Aliya Iqbal assure that this money will go solely to needy ones. Please help us reach this goal.
