Kashmir Floods - MI volunteers

There are over 400,000 people in dire need of help in flood affected areas of Kashmir. The need of the hour is rescue boats, life jackets, medicines, tents, blankets, water purifiers, ready to eat meals and baby food.
My name is Nadeem Ahmad and I reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan and work for General Motors as an Automotive Engineer.
I was born and raised in Srinagar, Kashmir and consider these floods the biggest disaster to have struck Kashmir in the last 100 years. My parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family have been affected by these floods just like every other Kashmiri resident. Some of my family members have had to abandon their homes during this period and reside with the ones that were less affected.
A lot of you may ask as to how I intend to channel these funds.
I can tell you that the money collected will be sent to my family and friends some of who are in Delhi, India. They will then procure tents, blankets, water purifiers, ready to eat meals and baby food. Buying these goods in India as opposed to the United States is mainly to keep the cost manageable. Also shipping costs of such goods from the USA would be enormous.
These goods after being purcahsed in Delhi, India will then be transported by land from Delhi to Srinagar, Kashmir. The first such shipment is scheduled for October 4th at this point in time. The same family members and friends will then hand distribute these goods starting with the people who have lost pretty much everything (homes, personal assets, money, etc.).
Receipts of goods purchased will be made available to people who are interested in knowing what the money was used for. We will also have pictures and videos of these goods being handed out to flood affected people just to give everybody that has donated and myself the satisfaction and peace of mind that the money was truly used for a good cause.
