The Eastwood HS Choir has been invited to participate in a music festival in New York City for the second time in a row. We weren’t able to go last year because of the expense. We started fundraising at the beginning of this year so that we could seize this opportunity, but we’ve still fallen short of our goal. We need your help to make this dream a reality.
The Eastwood High School choirs have won a number of awards in the last few years. Both our Varsity Women and Varsity Mixed Choirs received the highest rating at UIL Concert & Sight Singing Contest last year and we came in 1st place at the Anaheim, CA and Dallas, TX Worldstrides Festivals in 2016 and 2017. Nineteen of our students made it into the Region 22 All Region Choir this year and several went on to audition for a spot in the Texas All State Choirs. We had fourteen students receive a rating of one for their solo performances and ten students receive a one for ensembles at this year’s Solo & Ensemble Contest.
Our choir members work hard everyday, with rehearsals before and after school, and even on Saturdays. We have a strong work ethic and drive that pushes us to be El Paso’s finest. It would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to be able to participate in the World Strides Heritage Music Festival in New York this year, but we are still short $7,000 from getting there.
