Easter Day Bomb Victims Relief Fund

Donation protected
On April 21st 2019, Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka at least 207 were killed and more than 450 were injured due to multiple explosions at well-known churches and hotels during annual Easter celebrations.  We are raising funds to support the victims, their families and churches through this difficult time.  Any amount will be helpful, and we thank you for your donation in advance.

We have two Sri Lankan community members here in Milwaukee directly connected to St. Sebastian Church in Negombo, where the deadliest attack happened, and Zion Church in Batticaloa, Eastern part of Sri Lanka.

Due to the security and safety situation in Sri Lanka it took some time for Mr. Lalith Perera and Mr. Robin Perera, both in Negombo, to visit the affected families send me the information. Finally they have manged to locate 22 families who can be mostly benefited from your generous contributions.  The same information is expected to receive from Zion church community soon.

I  will be going to Sri Lanka on June 11th  at my own expenses, and plan to meet those 22 families along with Mr. Lalith Perera and Mr. Robin Perera to provide support to those families from your contributions.  None of those families are known to me or related to Lalith or Robin.

There are few school children who lost both parents from the attack and we plan to support them through their school years, and possibly beyond. I have a scholarship fund which was opened during the Tsunami devastation in Sri Lanka and this will be used to support them in  the long term, and will undertake this responsibility seriously to support those children.

Even though  earleir I asked GoFundMe to send money directly to Mr. Lalith Perera, since I am going to be in Sri Lanka in couple of days, and GoFund was not able to send money as expected due to their regulations (GoFundMe took a long time to review sending funds to someone who is not associated with the fund raising team in USA),  on June 2nd  I e-mailed  GoFundMe requesting to deposit your contributions directly to my personal account so I can take your donation with me.

Once I am in Sri Lanka, I will open a temporary checking account and deposit your contributions in Sri Lankan rupees, and will write each family a check and will post the pictures of  the families and checks written to them for your information.

I may not be able to visit affected Zion church community in Batticaloa due to my short stay in Sri Lanka, but will do my best to serve that community to my best ability with your donations.

Once again, thank you all for your generous donations which will help these affected families in a much needed situation.

I will update you all with latest upon my return from Sri Lanka.

If anyone of you need contact those families please send an e-mail requesting  contact information.
