East Timor Immersion Trip

Hi, my name is Akailah Woodburn. I am 16 years old and am currently in year 11 completing my ATAR at Nagle Catholic College, Geraldton.
For the past 6 years, sixteen Year 11 students from our college have travelled to East Timor to volunteer in a small village school, where we will be teaching literacy and numeracy; as well as helping the townspeople with maintenance and repairs. I have been selected to attend this immersion trip during the September school holidays later this year. As this will be my first overseas volunteering experience, I am excited for the challenges this opportunity brings. I believe that by assisting this community it will enhance my cultural awareness and improve my leadership and empathy skills.
I am seeking financial sponsorship to assist me in attending this life-changing experience. My goal is $4000 and any extra funds that are raised, I will donate to the community we will be working with.
