Knoxville Sled Bears

The Knoxville Sled Bears is a team within the organization designed to help individuals with mobility impairment have the opportunity to play hockey.  The team consists of adults and youth with a variety of physical disabilities that prevents the players from being eligible to play stand-up hockey.  We strive to create an environment where everyone is afforded the chance to participate in a like-minded community while individually excelling and pushing their physical limits.

We currently have athletes from all walks of life including but not limited to; several wounded warriors, a police officer, firefighter, and many other talented athletes.  We wear the same equipment as a stand-up hockey player.   We practice weekly from October - April and our goal is to host a tournament every year.  The tournament brings players from all over the southeast including several paralympians.  We also travel to several tournaments throughout the season.  The organization tries to absorb as much of the cost as possible for ice, tournaments, travel, and equipment, so our players don’t have to be burdened by the expense.

Covid-19, has dramatically affected our sponsorship and funding for our 2020-2021 season and we are starting over financially.   We are asking for assistance so we can continue to provide this valuable service to our athletes, community and region.  We are most appreciative of any support and your contribution would be tax deductible.
