Hana is located 2.5 hours away from the nearest hospital, leaving us as an important line of defense during emergencies. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals tirelessly attends to critical cases, providing urgent care services that can make the difference between life and death.

<div>At East Maui Medical Clinic, we are committed to ensuring that healthcare remains accessible to all, regardless of their financial circumstances. We serve our community by providing medications either free of charge or at cost, and we do not turn away patients due to their lack of insurance or ability to pay. In cases where insurance companies fail to reimburse us adequately, we shoulder the burden and never hold the patient responsible for payment.

<div>Despite our unwavering dedication, we face significant financial challenges that threaten the continuity of our operations. As a small, independent clinic, we lack the negotiating power and resources of larger healthcare institutions. Insurance reimbursements have been decreasing steadily, jeopardizing our ability to sustain the high level of care we currently provide.

<div>It is important to note that while there is a community health clinic nearby, the East Maui Medical Clinic serves majority of the local population. Despite our limited budget of only $180,000 per year, we consistently provide comprehensive care, including vital services such as lab testing, blood draws, hospice care, home care, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

<div>During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to serving our patients went beyond the call of duty. My wife and I personally made daily round trips of 5 hours to transport PCR testing samples to clinical labs, without any reimbursement, to ensure timely and accurate results. We consider these sacrifices a service to our patients, who rely on us for their health and well-being.
