Our Cosmos Montessori Families, & Volunteers had an incredible day of teamwork on Saturday!

We had an amazing turnout—our parents showed up ready to help, Shady donated lunch, and Layla’s Bakery treated us to some delicious goodies. We’re beyond grateful for everyone who pitched in to restore our outdoor space!

But we’re not done yet! While we’ve made great progress, we still need to fully rebuild the playground, replace the shade cover, and strengthen the chicken coop for our mini urban farmers.

Tuesday, severe storms and tornado alarms swept through Dallas, bringing powerful winds that flipped over our Cosmos Montessori chicken coop, leaving our beloved chickens without a home. It was a heartbreaking sight—our mini urban farmers, who care for the chickens as part of their daily learning, stood in shock as they saw the coop overturned and damaged.

Despite the chaos, our community immediately came together. Parents, teachers, and children began brainstorming ways to rebuild, determined to restore this vital part of our Montessori outdoor classroom. We were ready to take action.

But before we could even start… another storm hit last night.

This time, the damage was even worse. Our playground structure and fence were destroyed—a space that had been lovingly built by our parent volunteers and local small businesses donations. What was once a vibrant, thriving natural play area is now in ruins. It’s devastating to see the hard work of so many wiped away in an instant.

Why This Matters

Our chickens provide real-world lessons on sustainability, responsibility, and compassion.

Our natural playground was a labor of love, built from the ground up by our community.

Our children have lost a vital space for exploration, hands-on learning, and connection with nature.
