Some may know, and others may not but Stanley has been diagnosed with stage III esophageal adenocarcinoma, and will be starting chemotherapy this coming Monday. We honestly haven’t even told our girls yet about pawpaw’s diagnosis, but with him starting chemo Monday we will be having this discussion this weekend.
I asked Joanne prior to me making this so she is aware and gave me permission. Sadly, like many others who have been touched by this cruel disease comes with the overwhelming never ending cost of the treatment to hopefully prolong his life. Since he got his diagnosis they’ve had to go to Charlottesville VA twice just to get staged and tests run which required gas and hotel expenses. Tomorrow he is scheduled to get his port put in (his doctor wanted him to start chemo back in October) but due to costs everything has been delayed. Just to get his port put in is 300.00 but the lady said half down would allow them to put it in. Stanley only has Medicare and does not qualify for Medicaid. Immediate members have tried to help as much as we can with expenses. I would like to try and help raise a little bit to help ease the stress off them when it comes to gas/hotel expenses and medical deductible expenses.
