Earthquake reconstruction in Puebla

Mexico is in need of help. Six states—Mexico City, Puebla, Morelos, Guerrero, Chiapas and Oaxaca—were severely hit by two earthquakes, on September 7th and 19th. The initial response, recovering bodies and demolishing buildings, has taken place over the last few weeks, but now comes the time to reconstruct houses, hospitals, infrastructure, energy and water sources and churches, among others. There is also the need to build temporary housing for those affected.

Channeling donations so they make the right impact is never easy. We vetted three institutions actively working in urban and rural areas in the states of Puebla, Morelos, Chiapas and Oaxaca, all of them highly respected and with a clear track record of making very good use of their funding. Some have offered to match each dollar collected through this medium 1-to-1.

Unfortunately, these foundations only accept donations via international wire transfers, which can make it hard for people to contribute. We set up this page to consolidate  online donations, and we will evenly distribute all funds raised among the three institutions above.
