earthlings, lets help!
In August 2018, in Berlin at Maybachufer canal in Kreuzberg, I saw a homeless man attempt to commit suicide.
With no sense of hesitation and only one destination, the man jumped into the canal fully clothed, and began to push himself further and further under the surface of the thick, murky, brown water.
After we watched with complete shock, a few of us ran over to help; with one selfless stranger diving in to drag him out to 'safety'.
Society is continuing to push certain people further and further out into complete desperation. We need to come together as earthlings, and help each other survive, with kindness and compassion.
We have created this GoFundMe page to help our fellow earthlings who have found themselves homeless, with little more than the clothes on their back, helping to rejoin the people.
The money from this page will enable us to provide the homeless with cooked meals and toiletry packs. Our vision is to be able to spread this even further, bringing communities together with a few small acts of kindness from individuals located everywhere.
Maybe you and your friends have been thinking for a while about wanting to do more for others, and helping the homeless! Or perhaps this is something you might have been thinking about by yourself, either way, you knew you wanted to get involved but maybe the overwhelming notion of not knowing where to start, or who you could do it with, has always stopped you in your tracks.
This is where earthlings would come in.
Researching online you come across an instant pack, a little bit like 'Hello Fresh' where you have a list of ingredients, information on how to cook it; but this time with some recyclable containers and cutlery and some additional info on where to go, when to go, what to say and also what you might expect. You meet up with your friends or new earthlings that you are introduced to through the project online, you're all in good spirits and looking forward to help! As you use all of the information provided you start to take responsibility for helping those around you, realising that help can be given to anyone, by anyone, you don't have to be a professional to spread some kindness.
Each small group meeting up will be asked to document it with a couple of photos and to answer a couple of questions that earthlings would send out to them. Sharing their experience online through the earthlings website we hope to spread the realisation of the responsibility that we should all take as individuals to help those around us.
If we raise enough money we can provide you with the earthlings lets help starter pack, filled with everything you need to help those in your local community, hoping not only to help those individuals in need near to us, but to strengthen the sense of communities that we live in today.
The world is becoming increasingly disconnected, with so much importance placed on money, things, technology, social status, that so many of us find ourselves lost in the bullshit or frustrated at what is happening around us. This is an opportunity to change this, to make use of your well earned money, helping bring people together, and helping save lives.
There is a need more than ever right now to focus on the real things that matter in life and I appreciate anything you can do to help! Even as little as 5 euros can really help make a difference, so the next time you go to spend that much, ask if what you're buying is more worthwhile than spending in on saving a life.
