Early Mother's Day Bail Out

Women of color, especially Black women, are suffering under terrible conditions in the Contra Costa County jails in Richmond, California. They are separated from their families and unable to protect themselves. 77% of those in Contra Costa jails are stuck there awaiting trial because they can't afford their money bond. Judges and prosecutors who recommend money bail are supposed to consider affordability based on a new court ruling. But they clearly aren't abiding by this yet and families are suffering as a result.
