Hello everyone,
Nearly 29 years ago, I was born in a small village in the Dominican Republic named Hato Del Medio Arriba.
It is a small and very modest village in which most of the population survive off of agriculture and small livestock farming.
Unfortunately, most people don't have access to education and therefore are unemployed. It saddens me to see that nearly 30 years later the education system hasn't made any significant progress. Many people are still in a situation where they lack financial resources and access to education for their children.
This is what motivates me to organize this campaign. Toddlers from 2 to 5 years old are refused any type of pre-scholar education due to the lack of commitment and resources from the government.
Although there are many places in the city where they can privately send their children to receive an Early Childhood Education, it isn't an option for those parents who the lack financial resources to make it a possibility. (Considering that the commute is nearly 4 hours by bus and the cost of private school isn't within their means.)
100% of the kids below 5 years of age are DENIED education in this small community. They don't have the opportunity to develop their intellect, artistry, social skills and much more. I, myself, was a victim of this situation and I continue to see it occur amongst children in my family and many other children who still reside in the village.
These children have so much potential and they are relying on this program for an opportunity of a brighter future and a change in the pattern of their daily lives.
Many parents can only wish that they could send their children to receive some type of education.
As an initiative that has started and is now officially in motion, we would appreciate it if you could help us raise this amount of money so that we can build a small classroom for 40 children, including Dominican & Haitian-Dominican born children, to have the opportunity of receiving an Early Childhood Education.
We have calculated that for this small amount of money, we can prepare a classroom for 20 children and 2 teachers at a time. Twice a day, we will receive children for a few hours a day.
This will allow children to learn and mothers carryout their daily duties.
We will need to build everything from scratch and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We already spoke with the principal of the elementary school and she is willing to give us one of the classrooms to support the project. We know that she will not have the final say therefore we have to fight for this project. We are now in the motion of accruing the signatures of all the mothers, fathers and pregnant parents to ensure that their children will participate. Meetings are taking place and volunteers have come forward.
It will not be easy but if we ALL WORK TOGETHER, we can make this possibility a REALITY!
We are so fortunate to have access to education anywhere in this country, please help us make it possible for the less fortunate.

Hola a todos,
Hace casi 29 años, nací en un pequeño pueblo en la República Dominicana llamado Hato Del Medio Arriba.
Es un pueblo pequeño y muy modesto en el que la mayoría de la población sobrevive de la agricultura y la pequeña ganadería.
Desafortunadamente, la mayoría de la gente no tiene acceso a la educación y, por lo tanto, está desempleada. Me entristece ver que casi 30 años después el sistema educativo no ha hecho ningún progreso significativo. Muchas personas aún se encuentran en una situación en la que les faltan los recursos financieros y el acceso a la educación para sus hijos.
Esto es lo que me motiva a organizar esta campaña. En esta pequeña comunidad, los niños pequeños de 2 a 5 años se les niegan cualquier tipo de educación preescolar debido a la falta de compromiso y recursos del gobierno.
Aunque hay muchos lugares en la ciudad donde pueden enviar a sus hijos de manera privada para recibir una educación para la primera infancia, no es una opción para aquellos padres que faltan de recursos financieros para hacerlo posible. (Considerando que el viaje es de casi 4 horas en autobús y el costo de la escuela privada no está en sus posibilidades).
El 100% de los niños menores de 5 años son NEGADOS en clase y no tienen la oportunidad de desarrollar su intelecto, su habilidad artística, sus habilidades sociales y mucho más. Yo misma fui víctima de esta situación y sigo viendo que ocurre entre los niños de mi familia y muchos otros niños que aún residen en la área.
Estos niños tienen mucho potencial y confían en este programa para tener la oportunidad de un futuro mejor y un cambio en el patrón de sus vidas diarias.
Muchos padres tan solo desearían poder enviar a sus pequeñines a recibir algún tipo de educación.
Como una iniciativa que ha comenzado y que ahora está oficialmente en marcha, agradeceríamos que nos ayudaras a recaudar una pequeña cantidad de dinero para que podamos construir un aula pequeña para 40 niños, incluidos niños dominicanos y dominicanos-haitianos, para tener la oportunidad de recibir una educación de la primera infancia.
Hemos calculado que por esta cantidad de dinero, podemos preparar un aula para 20 niños y 2 maestros a la vez. Dos veces al día, recibiremos niños por unas pocas horas al día.
Esto permitirá que los niños aprendan y las madres cumplan con sus deberes diarios.
¡Tendremos que construir todo desde cero y NECESITAMOS SU AYUDA!
El salón de clases está muy deteriorado debido a todos los huracanes, terremotos y la falta de recursos financieros para darle cuidado. Después arreglar el aula, comenzará el proceso de convertirlo en un salón de clases para los pequeñines.
Ya hablamos con la directora de la escuela y ella está dispuesta a darnos uno de los salones para apoyar el proyecto. Bien se sabe que ella no sera la ultima a tomar la decision y que tendremos que luchar por este proyecto. En estos momentos estamos en la moción de acumular las firmas de todas las madres, padres y madres embarazadas para garantizar que sus hijos participen. Se están llevando a cabo reuniones y se han presentado voluntarios. Es un proceso con varios detalles pero no imposible.
¡No será fácil, pero si TODOS TRABAJAMOS JUNTOS, podemos hacer de esta posibilidad una REALIDAD!
Somos muy afortunados de tener acceso a la educación en cualquier parte de este país, juntos ayudemos a los menos afortunados.
