American Terror Child Trauma Response
UPDATE: As of May 2022, the Emerald Sketch is pivoting to meet the urgent needs of children and families dealing with the surging need to support American terror Trauma Response. All funds raised here will go toward mobilizing the Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team for Uvalde, Texas child survivors first. Our huge goal of $500,000.00 is an honest projection where the Emerald Sketch A.R.T., Inc. needs to aim to elevate the foundation to the highest level and transform into a working 501 (c) 3. Currently the Emerald Sketch A.R.T., Inc. is a non-stock domestic foundation (step before establishing 501 (c)3. A donation of $125 supports one hour of Trauma therapy for a child survivor and their family. Our American children are bleeding unfathomable pain and the Emerald Sketch has the capacity to mobilize graduate level clinicians all trained in Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy across the nation immediately. What We Do & Why Give
This is a critical moment to help surviving children in need access trauma therapy. Funding this campaign allows sustainable contracting for a diverse Art Therapy Response Team primarily based in regions throughout Texas, New York City, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia - all prepared to deploy. All donated proceeds have a direct impact giving art therapy for traumatized children and families devastated by American terror.
The Emerald Sketch Clinical Director has provided Mass Trauma Response trainings for Behavioral, Music, and Art therapists in San Antonio, Houston, and Santa Fe, Texas as early as 2008- present. For this reason, the Emerald Sketch has an established network of trauma responders in Texas prepared to work immediately.

Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team exists to provide trauma assessments and implement art therapy services as needed post traumatic event for children and their families. Our method is rooted in immediate trauma response after responding first for the Sandy Hook School community in Newtown, CT. Founding Director, Nicole Porter MA ATR-BC, LCAT sustained programming for eighteen months in the community until permanent local programming was established.
Since then, the Emerald Sketch acts to assess communities for child trauma response needs. The work primarily has focused on communities post massacre as such horrors are all too prevalent. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the need for child advocacy nationwide skyrocketed and the Emerald Sketch pivoted to both virtual and local. Art therapy Response Team Members began providing online PTSD assessments immediately in March 2020, and continue now. In June 2020, we increased assessment outreach for Black American communities, and then needed to pause to sustain the need.
More and more families need mental health services for their children due to American massacres. We're calling for awareness and upset regarding the care of the American surviving children and families. Child advocacy continues to be the forefront of this mission, as most of the proceeds raised now go directly toward art therapy services for children in the greatest need of trauma recovery.

Current Initiatives
Here is what we are doing now in 2022:
- Beginning mobilization efforts for Uvalde, Texas community
- New York Trauma Response for children and families devastated by the American Terror in both Brooklyn, and Buffalo
- Michigan Trauma Response due to a Massacre at Oxford High School outside of Detroit November 30, 2021
- Our current NYS local child advocacy programs for immediate trauma response include our Brooklyn inspired Black Children Matter movement, as well as ongoing child and family trauma response due to local gun violence in and around Hudson, Troy, and Albany.
- California Trauma Response Initiative, multiple locations

Ideally, this GoFundMe campaign raises enough funds to maintain art therapy services for thousands of American children and families now during the endurance of American terror Child Trauma Response. The Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team professionals are trained and prepared across the nation from Newtown, Connecticut to California, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, South Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, and many more.
Join us, and truly let's continue to help children and families heal when support is needed most, now during this deep dive into what seems like the darkest Spring of our lives. All funds have a direct impact. We are reawakening safety and security inside the hearts of children this season. Trauma is the result of a deeply distressing experience.
Trauma needs to be treated, or the emotional distress will most likely compound. Research shows us that when resources are available post mass trauma outcomes improve.
Trauma Response should happen now! Clinicians in place are ready and in need of greater resources.
- Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team Trainings are ongoing. Our programming is also intended to engage a new initiative of clinicians to provide immediate Art therapy Response to treat symptoms of trauma following any human-made disaster in the greater United States as funding and awareness are raised.
