Help Baby Born with Down Syndrome

Hi, I'm Anna. I'm a birth doula, and I recently attended Sara and Zack's birth. Their baby boy, Fletcher,  was unexpectedly born with Down Syndrome. While at first this sweet baby appeared to be healthy and doing well, within a few hours that was no longer the case. Fletcher was transferred to the NICU at Duke. They found that he has holes in his heart, as is common with babies with Down Syndrome, and is consequently suffering from persistent pulmonary hypertension. He was stabilized and is showing steady improvement, but still has a long road ahead, including heart surgery and many therapies. Sara and Zack have been traveling daily (35 miles one way) to be with their son, as well as, continue to care for their older daughter at home. Anything you could give to help them with medical and travel expenses would be greatly appreciated. The last thing this family needs at this time is an added financial burden.
