Coco’s Slipped Disc Surgery

Donation protected

We are raising money for our beautiful Miniature Dachshund Coco who is five years old. Coco is not only a huge part of our family but she has two pups herself (Piglet and Baby Bear) whom both miss their mummy.

Coco was rushed to a specialist vet facility on Friday morning as she lost complete use of her back legs and become incontinent. After examinations and an MRI scan the vet has confirmed Coco has a slipped disk and needs to be operated on straight away to increase her chances of recovery.

Coco is a healthy and happy dog, putting her down is not an option for us. Anyone who knows us will know the love we and her pups have for Coco, we are lost without her.

We hugely appreciate any support and we are praying for Coco’s quick recovery.

Thank you all.

What is slipped disk?
A slipped disc, also called a prolapsed or herniated disc, is where a soft cushion of tissue between the bones in your spine pushes out of place.

A slipped disc in dogs can put pressure on the spinal cord, this damages the nerves and causes the symptoms. If the disc slips suddenly there may also be bleeding into the spine, which puts even more pressure on the nerves.

This can cause any or all of the following signs:

Loss of coordination
Weakness
Paralysis
Lameness
Faecal or urinary incontinence
Loss of sensation in the leg

As a result your dog will lose the use of their back legs, if left untreated the only other option is to put your dog to sleep.
