Eagle's View Primary School

Donation protected
I volunteered at Mustard Seed School in Kamuli, Uganda in 2013 as part of Pathfinders Project. One of the Mustard Seed students, Muwanguzi Rogers, is now himself a founding teacher at a primary school in another rural village - Eagle's View Primary School in Kayiira. Mr. Muwanguzi co-founded the school to address the high rates of teen pregnancy, child labor, and school dropouts caused, in large part, by the absence of any school sufficiently nearby to Kayiira. In just two years, the school has already made a difference in Kayiira. Rates of teen pregnancy and child labor are decreasing as school attendance increases. A parent has offered to sell the school two acres of land at a bargain price so that the school can erect proper classrooms and have its own campus.

Muwungazi Rogers: "Many children in rural areas have little opportunity to get education. Eagle's View came up as a solution to mitigate that problem. Data for Kayiira showed alarming rates of early pregnancies, child labor, and school dropouts, with families reporting that the closest schools were simply too far away. That is why we founded Eagle's View Primary School in 2018, and the community has welcomed us. Within a year, we had over 100 pupils from P1 up to P5. The number multiplied beyond whatever number we could accommodate in the buildings we were able to rent as classrooms.

We now have the opportunity to purchase two acres of land directly across the road from the buildings we are currently renting. The land is being offered by one of the parents at a very generous price (less than $5,500) for the benefit of the community. Although the parents are mostly subsistence farmers, with many of them being single mothers, the school community was able to pay more than half of the asking price for the land by selling five cows. Please help us continue to empower young girls and strive for the eradication of child labor and school dropouts by contributing to the purchase of these two acres vital to our education project. Education is the everlasting heritage we can give to the younger generation.

Once the land is purchased, the community will come together to construct a preliminary block of four classrooms made with locally baked bricks and metal roofing. A local NGO has promised to drill a well on the school property."

Please support in any way you can. Every donation and every share helps. I will be sending the money to Mr. Muwanguzi via World Remit, and will provide updates to supporters as the school building project progresses.
