Bella’s Heartworm Treatment Fund

Our newest rescue, little miss Bella (aka Bella Bella!), has been diagnosed with heartworm and we are raising funds for her life-saving treatment. We already got her through her first round of antibiotics that and is on monthly prevention to kill off baby worms and prevent them from coming back. She now she is due to go in for the shots that kill off the adults in her heart on Monday 9/29/2025.

This little bundle of energy has taught me so much in the past 5 months, and I’m grateful for every moment we’ve had together (even the frustration that made me want to re-home her.. lol). She’s goofy, loving, resilient, SUPER intelligent and easy to train and she deserves the chance to live a long, happy, tail-wagging life with toy in mouth, without the risk of an embolism causing death or long term side effects if we do not treat it right away.

All we need is 1,300 people to donate $1 or 130 people to donate $10 (or anything in between — every dollar matters!). Please consider donating even $1 and sharing with your friends and family to help us save her life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

A Little About Heartworm Disease

Heartworm is a serious, life-threatening condition caused by foot-long worms that live in a dog’s heart, lungs, and blood vessels. It spreads through a single mosquito bite.

* Why it’s dangerous:
Heartworms damage the heart and lungs, leading to coughing, fatigue, breathing problems, organ failure, and, if untreated, death. Even dogs who look perfectly healthy can have dozens of worms silently causing harm.

* Why treatment matters:
The only safe cure is a series of injections given by a veterinarian, along with months of strict rest. It’s expensive, time-intensive, and tough — but it’s the only way to kill the adult worms and stop permanent heart and lung damage

*The alternative: Without treatment, Bella would face years of pain and declining health. “Slow-kill” methods exist, but they take years and allow the worms to keep damaging her organs. Immediate treatment gives her the best chance at a full recovery and long, joyful life.

* The good news:
Once she completes her treatment, Bella can live a completely normal, healthy life — free of heartworms and back to her playful, happy self.

By donating, you’re not just helping Bella — you’re giving her the chance to run, play, live and love without pain. You’re also showing what’s possible when a community comes together to give a rescue dog a second chance.
