Pearl Young Memorial Scholarship

My name is Valencia Williams, and I am from Buffalo, NY! I am good friends with Pearl and attended church with her. This situation is heartbreaking, and I wanted to do something to honor Pearl.

 

Pearl Young was a vibrant ray of light for many during her life. On the afternoon of May 14th, 2022, her life was taken too soon in a heinous shooting while shopping at Tops. Pearl worked as a missionary at a food pantry in Buffalo’s central park neighborhood and volunteered her time EVERY Saturday over the last 25 years! Not only did Pearl volunteer at the pantry, but she was also the wife of a pastor, a substitute teacher for Buffalo public schools, and a Sunday school teacher! Pearl was devoted to her church, Good Samaritan Church of God in Christ, and volunteered at their food pantry every weekend. At 77, she was full of life, still working, still volunteering. As her memory shines on, the creation of the Pearl Young Memorial Scholarship Fund takes shape. Emerson school of hospitality, located in Buffalo, is a cutting-edge school that provides hands-on experience to those looking to successfully gain employment in the hospitality industry! This scholarship will go to  students who exemplify the qualities that Pearl carried with her every day.  We hope the legacy of Pearl forever lives on and continues to have a positive impact on those she knew and loved. This scholarship will reflect the the many wonderful and selfless acts of kindness Pearl did for her community. Please consider donating and  sharing!
