Hi family and friends!
As many of you know I am pursuing a career as a physician assistant. This fall I have applied to eleven schools and will be hearing back in the coming months regarding a June 2105 start; the first step is the school's request for an interview. In the meantime, at the recommendation of several advisors, I am going to Cusco, Peru to volunteer with A BROADER VIEW next month to live with a host family and be a pre-med volunteer for ten weeks while studying Spanish in hopes of becoming proficient. I will be working to provide care to underserved communities at the Clinica San Juan de Dios Cusco. My schedule the first month is to attend school in the mornings and assist special-needs patients with physical therapy, feedings, and general check ups in the afternoons. The following six weeks I will continue to work in the special needs area in the a.m. and aid nurses in the General Medicine area in the afternoons. My agreement with my parents is to raise 1/2 of the cost or $3,260. To that end, I have been house-sitting, baby-sitting and dog-sitting all fall.
