Dear Family, Friends, Co-Workers and all,
We are writing this message to ask for monetary support for a dear couple who is in dire need right now.
Helaine & John Stanton have touched the hearts of many with their warmth, smiles and truly heartfelt and giving nature.
Their nightmare began when Helaine was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Hodgkin lymphoma cancer in 2005.
This horrible disease not only affected Helaine’s physical health and took a great toll on Helaine and John emotionally, but also imposed a tremendous financial burden upon them, as Helaine became so disabled that she was unable to continue working.
Thankfully and with God’s grace Helaine was able to fight hard, and successfully win her battle against this horrible disease, however, the financial havoc this illness has wreaked on their lives still remains.
They are now about to lose their apartment and will be homeless, with no place to go except a New York City shelter.
We are extremely heartbroken for them, and this situation has just made us so keenly aware that it can happen to any one of us, after the loss of a job, or the loss of family, with a blink of an eye... you can lose everything.
Helaine and John are such wonderful people, loving, caring, giving, salt of the earth, and we are all so lucky to know them and have them in our lives. Knowing that this is happening to them makes us grieve. Bad things should not happen to good people.
Due to Helaine’s older age of 65, Helaine is no longer eligible for disability compensation. This means that their only income is Helaine’s social security monthly check, which is meager, and not enough to pay their monthly rent or support them.
They have applied for public housing but the waiting lists are long, and we have no idea how long this will take.
We are asking you to please join us in contributing a few dollars to help our dear friends John & Helaine get back on their feet.
Anything you could give would be appreciated.
Also, if you know of ANYONE at all who needs a house sitter, or has a room to rent, or can offer a place for them to live temporarily, your support would be appreciated more than you could ever know.
