<div>Hola, soy Leti. A los 19 años, estando en mi segundo año de Enfermería, recibí un diagnóstico que me dejó en shock: Lupus con daño renal severo y resistente a tratamientos. Pasé un mes internada, rodeada de máquinas y exámenes que me hacían cuestionar mi futuro. Durante esta década de altibajos he vivido días interminables de dolor en mis articulaciones y en mi piel. Debido a la enfermedad, perdí mi cabello, tuve lesiones visibles en mi rostro y soporté miradas que herían más que las cicatrices.

<div>Mis médicos insistían: “Leti, tu salud está en riesgo; la presión de las prácticas y las guardias nocturnas podría desencadenar un brote grave de lupus. Quizá lo más sensato sea tomarte un descanso de la carrera.” Mi madre, al verme temblar de dolor tras una ronda de exámenes, me abrazaba sentada junto a mí en aquella fría habitación de hospital sosteniendo mi mano, entre lágrimas me pedía que pensara en mi vida, en mis riñones, en mi futuro. Mi padre, animándome a no abandonar mis sueños aun cuando mi cuerpo se sentía débil.

<div>A pesar de las recaídas constantes y los tratamientos agresivos, nunca dejé de trabajar y de estudiar. Me esforcé por no faltar a mis prácticas clínicas, a pesar del cansancio extremo y de los efectos secundarios. Aquel consejo calaba hondo, y hubo días en que casi apago mi ilusión. Sin embargo, cada mañana que me despertaba con el estómago agarrotado por la incertidumbre, cerraba los ojos y veía mi uniforme, mi bata, mi vocación. Aprendí a dosificar mis fuerzas: estudiaba en ratos cortos, y celebraba cada pequeño avance como si fuera un gran logro. Y así, paso a paso, entre cuidados médicos y lecciones de resiliencia, me negué a abandonar mi sueño, hasta que, con mi título en la mano y el corazón henchido de orgullo, demostré que ni el lupus ni el miedo serían más fuertes que mi determinación.

<div>Mis doctoras han sido un pilar fundamental, buscando soluciones, dándome esperanza y explicándome paso a paso cada nueva opción. Hoy se abre una puerta de esperanza: un tratamiento innovador en España que podría mejorar mi calidad de vida y devolverme la energía para ejercer como enfermera.

<div>Cuando me hablaron del tratamiento innovador en España, sentí cómo por primera vez en años se encendía una chispa de luz en mi interior. Fue como si, tras cada pinchazo de dolor y cada noche de incertidumbre, al fin alguien me tendiera la mano y me dijera: “Sigue adelante, tu sueño de cuidar a los demás aún es posible”. Esa promesa de esperanza me dio fuerzas renovadas para planificar mi viaje, organizar mi vida y creer de nuevo que, a pesar de todo, puedo conquistar cada meta que me proponga.

<div>Mi sueño es poder volver a cuidar de los demás con la pasión de siempre, agradecer a mis padres su incansable apoyo y mostrar a otras mujeres, que es posible. No solo es mi oportunidad para seguir luchando, sino una forma de tender la mano a todas las mujeres que enfrentan su batalla contra el lupus. Una enfermedad que es 9:1 más frecuente en mujeres que hombres y nos ataca principalmente en edades jóvenes.

It might be wisest to take a break from your studies.” My mother, seeing me tremble with pain after a round of tests, would sit by my side in that cold hospital room, holding my hand and, through tears, urging me to think of my life, my kidneys, my future. My father encouraged me to never abandon my dreams, even when my body felt too weak.

<div>Despite constant relapses and aggressive treatments, I never stopped working or studying. I pushed myself to attend every clinical practice, despite extreme fatigue and side effects. Their advice weighed heavily on me, and there were days when I almost let go of my dream. Yet each morning, waking with my stomach knotted by uncertainty, I’d close my eyes and picture my scrubs, my white coat, my calling. I learned to ration my strength: studying in short bursts and celebrating each small step as if it were a great achievement. Step by step, between medical care and lessons in resilience, I refused to give up my dream until, diploma in hand and heart swelling with pride, I proved that neither lupus nor fear could outmatch my determination.

<div>My doctors have been fundamental pillars, searching for solutions, giving me hope, and walking me through every new option. Today, a door of hope has opened: an innovative treatment in Spain that could improve my quality of life and restore my energy to work as a nurse.
