Tyler Zinn is in the fight of his life right now. On September 1, his wife Jennifer went to wake him up and he was unresponsive. After calling 911 Tyler was life-flighted to St Luke's in Milwaukee where he is now in the ICU on a ventilator that is helping him breathe.
Tyler takes a prescription medication and one side effect of the medicine is it can cause respiratory depression. He had taken this medication the night before he was found unresponsive. Tyler could have been under-oxygenated from the respiratory depression for as long as 6 hours. When the medics intubated him (inserted a breathing tube into his lungs) he aspirated fluid and sustained chemical damage to his heart and lungs. The combination of under-oxygenation and aspiration led to Tyler being put on ECMO, a machine that acts as his heart and lungs. He has improved enough to be taken off ECMO but is still on a ventilator and has yet to wake up from his coma.
Tyler is a brave, tough man who served his country honorably in the Marine Corps, with three tours to Iraq. He is the proud father to a beautiful one year old daughter and husband to a wonderful wife. This young family has a long road ahead of them and needs our help financially so they can focus on getting Tyler healthy.
