Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing

My mother, Conella, recently suffered a major stroke in April. She has worked very hard to rehabilitate her left side, which was completely paralized at the onset of the stroke. My mother was in and out of the hospital throughout her rehabilitation.
She did very well, and was able to go home with minimal home health care and outpatient rehab at home. She was released to drive and be completely independent in June. She has been doing well, and continued to do her excercises on her own to get stronger after therapy stopped.

Unfortunately, my mother had a very serious motor vehicle accident July 29th. Conella is in dire need of support. She had the minimal amount of coverage on her car and only the standard PIP for Florida. She was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a truama patient, and had emergency surgery to repair a limb threatening open fracture of her good right arm. She also suffered a small subarachnoid bleed, a right tibial plateau fracture, right patella fracture, broken ribs, a nasty laceration on her right lower leg, and several bruises, not to mention whip lash. Her leg is non operable at this time, and is in an immobilizer. Her arm is also immobilized in a splint. Her left side, her stroke side is still weak. My mother is expected to have a very long recovery requiring long-term skilled nursing and rehab upto 3 months. Her medicare will only cover so much, and then she is required to pay a copayment to stay in a facility. Not to mention she will no longer have personal transportation when she eventually returns home.
Unfortunately, my mom's animals are also in need of help during this time. Her apartment is in Bradenton, and I live in Venice. I am doing everything I can to help her in every possible way, however I do not have the financial means for all the extra expenses accrued for the cost of the tow and storage fees for the car-which were not covered by her auto policy (Over $450). In addition, I have had to go to Bradenton several times to get her animals, personal items, etc... costing over $120 in gas already. My mother is a veteran, but unfortunately the VA only covers so much, and then she is responsible for the rest. She is retired and lives in low income housing and solely off her SSI monthly income. I need help to make sure my mother can continue her care and return to her independence eventually. I am personally unable to take care of her, as I work full time, take care of my husband, who is also disabled, and attend nursing school. My plate is full, and I need help to take care of her.
