Help Us Be With Our Mom in Her Final Days
Hi, my name is Avi Silverman, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. My mom has been battling liver cancer, and her condition has taken a sudden turn for the worse. She’s currently in Israel, staying with my brother, and my sister is there with her now. We don’t know how much time she has left, but we’re doing everything we can to be by her side.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help cover the urgent travel expenses for both my sister and me to fly to Israel—whether to spend precious time with her while we still can, or to attend her funeral, if it comes to that. Flights are $2,300 each, and we also need to rent a car while we’re there to get to and from the hospital and support our family.
(Estimated around 900~ plus gas and toll roads, total estimated cost 1,500~ for two weeks.)
Additionally, I’m asking for help to cover one month of my mom’s mortgage payments and utility bills, which total $2,100, so her home stays secure while I take time off work to be with her during this difficult time.
This is one of the hardest moments our family has faced. If you feel moved to contribute, any amount would make a meaningful difference. And even if you can’t give, sharing this with others would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your love, prayers, and support.
— Avi Silverman
UPDATE:
My mom recently made a heartfelt request — she asked if we could bring her beloved dog to be with her during this time. The dog has been part of her healing and daily life for years, and having her by her side would bring comfort and peace in these final days.
My sister took the dog to the vet to begin the process for international travel, including vaccines and paperwork, but those documents won’t be ready until July. We’re now preparing to cover the additional travel costs to bring the dog to Israel, which includes airfare, health certifications, and possible boarding arrangements. Between the vet visits, crate, documents, and the international flight, we’re estimating it will end up being around $3,000-$4,000.
If you feel moved to contribute toward this part of the journey, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every bit of support continues to bring our family together and give our mom the love she needs right now. Thank you for standing with us.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE:
Expanded Goal to Support Mom’s Full Care,
After talking with family and evaluating everything more closely, we’ve realized the true cost of giving our mom the best possible care — not just being with her in her final days, but making sure she’s supported with private health services, alternative treatments, and dignified end-of-life care — is significantly higher than we first estimated.
We’ve already seen that costs are rising quickly. For example:
• A specialized water purification machine she purchased was $5,200
• Alternative treatments like Vitamin C infusions, CBD, or Ivermectin range from 1,200 to 3,000 shekels per IV
• Private doctors, nutritional care, and in-home nursing support add up fast
• We’re also managing international flights, a rental car, and her mortgage so she’s not burdened during this time
To make sure nothing is left undone, we’re raising our goal to $75,000. This allows us to:
• Pay for the best available care and comfort in her final weeks or months
• Bring her beloved dog to Israel as she requested
• Cover out-of-pocket medical treatments and therapies not covered by insurance
• Ensure travel, rent, and living costs for family coming to care for her
• Track every donation and purchase transparently, with receipts for medical and essential expenses
If anything remains after my travel expenses are complete, we will use it to support any family members who sacrificed income and time to be by her side — and make sure we honor her legacy with integrity and love.
We are deeply grateful for your generosity, prayers, and presence. Every share, every donation, and every kind message reminds us we are not walking this alone.
—With love and thanks,
