Raising money to prevent becoming Homeless

Chances are, if you're reading this, then you are probably a friend of mine, and you probably (hopefully?) know who I am.

If, by chance, you are not a friend of mine, and you stumbled upon this fundraiser, then; Hello! My name is Enigma, I prefer not to share my real name online, and I wish we could have met under better circumstances...

Before we continue any further, I would like to make one thing very clear:

I want you all to take care of yourselves, first and foremost. I do not want anyone to feel like they are obligated to donate, and I will completely understand if anyone can not, or even simply decide not, to donate. Only contribute if you can donate safely.

Unlike other fundraisers you may see, I do not have an elaborate sob story to explain my predicament. I lost the job I had been working for six years due to covid related down-sizing, and I've been struggling to find a stable job since. I've exhausted my savings keeping myself afloat after covid, and it's been incredibly difficult to make ends meet. I've barely been able to eat, rationing what little food I do have, and I'm months behind on rent.

The landlord has given me until the end of the month to pay or find a new place to live, and I have nowhere to go. My parents won't take me in, I have no other family in the city that can support me, and no couches that I can surf.

It breaks my heart to ask for help like this... but my options have run out, and I can use all the help I can get.

Here is the breakdown of how much I owe (all costs are in Canadian dollars):

$820 - Past due rent

$660 - Rent due September 1st

$165.90 - Past due Internet bills

$84.61 - Internet bill due September 1st

$50+ - GoFundMe's fee (this is the minimum, it will likely cost more)

In the off chance we exceed the goal, any excess funds will be put towards food and transportation for job hunting.

What's more likely is that we won't raise enough in time; in this case, what money is raised will be put towards finding a new place to live or, at worst, doing what I can to make myself safer on the street.
